SINGAPORE: The Association of Orthodontists (Singapore) Congress (AOSC) has reinforced its status as a leading event for orthodontic professionals with a programme including pre- and post-congress activities and showcasing advancements, innovations and collaborations in orthodontics. Held between 28 February and 3 March, the biennial event brought together a diverse audience of 785 attendees from 31 countries at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The host and the dates of the highly anticipated Asian Pacific Orthodontic Congress (APOC) were also announced.
AOSC 2025 featured an engaging scientific programme presented by 11 renowned experts. Among these were the keynote speakers, Dr Ute Schneider-Moser, who is an orthodontist and a dynamic presenter known for delivering engaging talks with visually impactful slides, and Dr Sandra Tai, who is an orthodontist with expertise in treating complex malocclusions with clear aligners. The conference covered pivotal topics, including the future of fixed orthodontic appliances versus aligners, innovations in Class III malocclusion treatment, the innovation of 3D-printed shape memory aligners, the use of aligners in cases involving orthognathic surgery and the latest in treatment planning for auto-transplantation. Attendees participated in 17 sessions, including conference papers, panel discussions and workshops focusing on emerging techniques and technologies shaping modern orthodontic care.
The trade exhibition hosted 22 exhibitors from six countries, featuring cutting-edge products and solutions such as CBCT for imaging and treatment planning, self-ligating bracket systems, artificial intelligence-powered remote monitoring, shape memory polymer aligners and mini-implant-assisted rapid palatal expanders. These innovations provided attendees with an opportunity to explore the latest advancements in orthodontic technology and treatment methodologies.
An exciting announcement at AOSC 2025 was that the Association of Orthodontists (Singapore)—AOS—will be hosting the next APOC, set to take place at Marina Bay Sands on 6–8 November 2026. APOC is the official conference of the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society, the umbrella body of the AOS.
Dr Koo Chieh Shen, president of the AOS, stated: “We are honoured that the AOS has been chosen to host APOC in 2026. The success of AOSC 2025 has laid a strong foundation for this upcoming event. We are excited to unite the Asia-Pacific orthodontic community and look forward to delivering an even more impactful congress in 2026.”
Beyond the conference halls, AOSC 2025 fostered networking, collaboration and diversity. The scientific poster competition showcased 27 posters, highlighting innovative research and case studies that contributed to the advancement of orthodontic knowledge. Additionally, a brand-new pre-congress forum, Women in Orthodontics, celebrated the achievements of women in the field and addressed the specific challenges and opportunities they have in orthodontic practice. The session provided a vital platform for mentorship, advocacy and knowledge-sharing, reinforcing the importance of diversity in shaping the future of orthodontics.
Additionally, signature social events such as the welcome reception, held at PS.Cafe One Fullerton, and the AOSC Gardens by the Bay Run provided a relaxed setting for delegates to connect, exchange insights and build meaningful professional relationships.
After the success of AOSC 2025, the orthodontic community is eagerly looking ahead to APOC 2026, which promises to be an even more expansive platform for knowledge exchange and industry progression, redefining the future of orthodontics in the Asia-Pacific region.
