The 18th Asian Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (AAAD) Biennial Meeting in conjunction with 30th Taiwan Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (TAAD) Anniversary will be held from November 29th to December 2nd in Taipei, Taiwan. On behalf of the organizing committee, we very delighted and honored to welcome you to attend this remarkable event under the main theme “being legendary”.

The Evolution of Aesthetic Dentistry

Following the elevation of economics worldwide after 1980, dental treatment was no longer limited to disease control and functional rehabilitation; aesthetic results were increasingly anticipated by patients. The Asian Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry was founded in 1990 to respond to these trends, with the first scientific meeting held that same year in Singapore. One of the objectives was to promote aesthetic dentistry education among local dentists in Asia, leading to biennial scientific meetings at various locations across the region.

The Founding of TAAD

To hold the 4th AAAD meeting in 1996 in Taiwan, TAAD was founded in 1994 with Dr. Choung-Ming Lin as the founding president, and I served as the secretary general at that time. After years of effort, many elite members who adhered to TAAD’s guidelines (comprehensive diagnosis, integrated treatment) and diligently pursued continuing education have become more skilled and mature. On our 30th anniversary, these members deserve recognition on an international platform and can inspire younger generations to pursue aesthetic dentistry.

Exciting Scientific Presentations

This time, we are excited to bring together international and local speakers to share their insights into the foundational principles of oral and maxillofacial aesthetics. Topics will range from interdisciplinary full mouth rehabilitation and aesthetic implant procedures to restorative materials, periodontal surgery, minimally invasive dental procedures, and specialized dental structure bonding.

Showcase Days and Keynote Lectures

On the first day, TAAD invites 12 outstanding member speakers for the “Taiwan Stars’ Showcase Day,” featuring top-level aesthetic treatment results. On November 30th, AAAD member academies will present distinguished speakers for the “Asian Stars’ Showcase Day.” Professor Joseph Kan, a renowned professor from the United States with an impressive research and clinical background, will deliver a full-day lecture titled “28 Years of Anterior Implant Esthetics; Success, Failures & Limitations” on December 1st as part of “International Star Day.”

Aiming for Excellence in Aesthetic Dentistry

The aims are to explore global trends in aesthetic dentistry and foster extensive learning opportunities to achieve a healthy, balanced, functional orofacial system as well as a charming smile for our patients. By “standing on the shoulders of giants” and through our collective efforts, we can elevate ourselves to new heights of excellence and be legendary together!
