JAKARTA, Indonesia: The Indonesia Dental Exhibition and Conference (IDEC) is the premier dental exhibition and conference in the country. Organised by Koelnmesse and Traya Eksibisi Internasional, in partnership with the Indonesian Dental Association, IDEC returned for its third edition from 15 to 17 September after a four-year hiatus.

Over the course of four days, about 4,000 visitors and more than 350 brands and companies from 14 nations joined the event at the Balai Sidang Jakarta Convention Center. The 5,000 m2 exhibition included three national pavilions, representing China, Germany and South Korea.

Under the theme “The Transformation of Dental Health Resiliency”, the conference programme featured 26 scientific seminars held by 29 experts from various countries, who addressed the current trends and needs in oral health.

Dr Lucia Rizka Andalucia, the director general for pharmaceutical and medical devices in the Indonesian Ministry of Health, expressed her appreciation for the consistent and committed efforts of IDEC in promoting the advancement of the dental industry in the country. IDEC has become a trendsetter in the development of the dental industry in Indonesia while also enhancing public health, she emphasised.

Mathias Kuepper, managing director and vice president for Asia Pacific at Koelnmesse, highlighted the increased exhibitor participation. “IDEC 2023 boasts a remarkable 20% increase in exhibition size since 2019. Within this expansive showcase, we are proud to host 65 new companies, marking their debut at IDEC, alongside the distinguished presence of three national pavilions. This diverse congregation of exhibitors underscores the significant interest and participation in Indonesia’s dental industry, reflecting its emergence as a focal point of innovation and growth,” he said.

Dr Usman Sumantri, president of the Indonesian Dental Association, stated: “Through IDEC 2023, we hope that local dental health industry players can showcase their best products and adapt to technological advancements from other countries to continue creating technology-based solutions for dental and oral health issues in the country.”
