JAKARTA, Indonesia: The fourth Indonesia Dental Exhibition and Conference (IDEC) was held this week at the Jakarta International Convention Center, marking another significant milestone in Indonesia’s journey towards innovation and resilience in dentistry. Organised by Koelnmesse and Amara Group in collaboration with the Indonesian Dental Association, IDEC 2025 served as a key platform connecting dental professionals, academics and industry leaders across borders to share knowledge, discover new technologies and foster meaningful collaboration.

The opening ceremony set the stage for three dynamic days featuring an exhibition, scientific conference and interactive programme, gathering thousands of dental professionals from Indonesia and abroad. The ceremony was attended by the director-general of pharmaceutical and medical devices at the ministry of health, Dr Lucia Rizka Andalucia. She inaugurated the event alongside Dr Himawan Halim, chairman of IDEC 2025; Dr Usman Sumantri, chairman of the Indonesian Dental Association; Mathias Kuepper, managing director and vice-president for Asia-Pacific at Koelnmesse; and Etty Anggraeni, project director at Amara Group.
In his opening remarks, Dr Halim underlined the importance of this year’s theme, “The Transformation of Dental Health Resiliency”, as a collective effort to strengthen the dental ecosystem through innovation, adaptability and collaboration. “We are building a dental healthcare system that is not only strong but also adaptive to change. This year’s IDEC focuses on how technology, particularly digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI), can be harnessed to enhance clinical precision, efficiency and accessibility of care. Resilience in dentistry is about preparing for the future, ensuring that innovation benefits both practitioners and the patients they serve,” he explained.
Echoing these thoughts, Kuepper said: “Since its inception in 2017, IDEC has evolved into a vital hub for innovation and professional collaboration in Southeast Asia’s dental industry.” He continued: “We are proud to see a 15% increase in new exhibitor participation this year. This reflects not only IDEC’s expanding influence but also the confidence of the international community in Indonesia’s role as a driving force for dental innovation in the region.”
Dr Usman Sumantri also extended his warm welcome to all participants and highlighted IDEC 2025 as a reflection of the ongoing transformation in dental healthcare resilience. He emphasised that IDEC continues to serve as a vital bridge between local and international industry participants, strengthening Indonesia’s position within the global dental ecosystem. He commented: “IDEC 2025 embodies the spirit of unity, innovation and progress. Through collaboration between local and global partners, we aim to inspire continuous advancement in dental technology and encourage Indonesian manufacturers to produce world-class dental equipment that supports both national and international needs.”
Participants explore the latest innovations in dentistry at IDEC 2025 in Jakarta.
IDEC 2025 gathered 250 leading brands from 11 countries, showcasing the latest innovations across 5,000 m2 of exhibition space. The presence of three international pavilions—from China, Italy and South Korea—and strong participation by international exhibitors—occupying nearly half of the show floor—reinforced IDEC’s standing as Indonesia’s premier dental industry event. This year also brought expanded international interest, as several companies and technologies made their IDEC début, reflecting IDEC’s continued role as a catalyst for global collaboration. Exhibitors represented a diverse mix of global markets, including Australia, Finland, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and the US, underscoring IDEC’s expanding global network.
The exhibition floor highlighted the whole range of the latest innovations shaping the future of oral healthcare, including digital imaging and AI-based diagnostic tools, as well as integrated treatment systems designed to improve precision, efficiency and patient comfort. This diversity of technology and expertise showcased IDEC’s role not only as a business platform but also as a catalyst for advancing Indonesia’s healthcare transformation agenda.
In parallel with the exhibition, the IDEC 2025 Scientific Conference featured 13 distinguished speakers and six immersive hands-on workshops led by experts from Indonesia and abroad. The conference explored three strategic pillars of dental health resilience:
digital adaptability, emphasising the use of AI, diagnostics and teledentistry to enhance care quality and accessibility;
workforce sustainability, addressing professional development and mental well-being in an increasingly digital landscape; and
public health preparedness, focusing on prevention, community empowerment and equitable access to oral healthcare.
Through these sessions, IDEC 2025 provided actionable insights and practical skills to help practitioners navigate the evolving challenges of dentistry, as well as fostered collaboration between healthcare providers, industry innovators and policymakers.
