Children, the elderly, and special needs in Sandakan, Sabah, can now receive dental care from the KKM Mobile Dental Clinic. KKM Mobile Dental Clinic travels around Sabah’s rural districts in the specially built Scania coach to serve the waiting public. It is outfitted with portable dental equipment. For this work, a coach that is dependable, tough, fuel-efficient, and environmentally friendly is needed.
“We are always moving because our waiting patients depend on us to get to them on time. Long-distance trips made safely and comfortably in a Scania coach live up to our expectations of what the Scania brand is capable of. Also, this eco-friendly coach will lessen CO2 emissions, lowering our carbon footprint while we carry out our duty to the residents of the Sandakan area,” according to Dr. Zaiton H. Tahir, Deputy Director of Health (Dental) Sabah.
This Scania coach includes the Opticruise with Eco-mode as standard, offering even more fuel savings. The Electronic Braking System (EBS), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with traction control, and hill hold when necessary are among the safety measures available on Scania coaches. The automatic and manual control Retarder strengthens the braking system while reducing the load on the brake pads' wear and tear. Independent front suspension provides excellent stability, comfort, and safety. Also, it includes three fire alarm sensors for any emergency.
Dr. Zaiton added, “I am looking forward to the fuel-efficient journeys that this bus will deliver to our Sandakan team, cutting our operational cost steadily.”
Before the event, the Bahagian Kesihatan Pergigian, Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Sabah hosted a Scania Vehicle Introductory Training. Two of the drivers of the KKM Mobile Dental Clinic underwent training from Scania Driver Trainer Adnan Ibrahim, and these drivers must become familiar with the controls, their functions, and the essential first-aid measures that must be taken in any emergency.
Shahril Othman, National Solutions Sales Manager-Coach & Bus, Scania Southeast Asia, said, “We admire the KKM Mobile Dentistry team in their initiative to reach the Rakyat by delivering the finest in dental treatment for everyone. Scania is happy that the Sabah State Health Department believes in the advantages provided by the features the bus carries. For worry-free operation, Scania will continue to see to it that the Scania mobile unit is properly maintained. If there is ever an emergency, the Scania Malaysia Sales and Services center in Sandakan is accessible round-the-clock through the Scania Help service. Call us right away to reach us.”
Scania has consistently been given the chance to assist the civil service in carrying out its duties for the Malaysian people. The KKM Mobile Dental Clinic has been authorized as a project under the Malaysia Plan.
