Case description

Skeletal Class 2. Boy, 10 years old, presented with deficient mandible and prognathic upper teeth, no medical history, noco morbids. No relevant history. He was a very shy boy. Would hardly talk and was not that camera friendly still we managed to take few pictures.

Figs. 1a-1i: Before treatment: Protruded upper arch. Mix dentition. Overjet of more than 12 mm. Incompetent lips. Constricted upper arch.

Figs. 2a-2p: During treatment: Started with functional appliance therapy. Gave him twin block appliance with palatal expanders. Did extractions of decidous teeth and gave him space fixed transpalatal and translingual arches with bite plane. When all permanent teeth were erupted and jaw correction was satisfactory, shifted him to invisible aligner. Treatment for mild correction of overjet and levelling alignment of anteriors with IPR and attachments.

Figs. 3a-3i: After treatment: Kept him on dual retention fixed plus removable for 2 years. Maintained his perio and vitamin D levels. Kept him on oxygen gels and antimicrobial mouthwashes for maintain of oral hygiene. Made follow ups mandatory as he was still in his growing age. Fig. 3j: Schematic illustration of the patient’s dentition prior to treatment, depicting the anatomical arrangement of the teeth and supporting alveolar bone.
